Latest updates from the campaign:
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Early voting for the March 1st Primary Election begins Monday, February 14th, and ends Friday, February 25th. Dallas County Elections Administrator Michael Scarpello reminds any Dallas County qualified voter they can cast their ballot at any vote center across the county.
"Early and Election Day voting locations can be found on the Tarrant County Election Office’s website. There are dozens of early voting sites and countywide polling places where voters can cast their ballots in person. Voters can also find out which sites are closest to them using the county’s voter look up tool online."
"Sifuentes, a former educator who lives in Southlake, thought the new law wasn’t based in reality. However, he said if elected he would follow HB 3979 as the board reviews the state’s social studies curriculum.
“We should be equipping our students with the critical thinking skills to be able to talk about sensitive topics, like race, slavery and the Holocaust,” Sifuentes, a former Fort Worth ISD educator, said. “That should be the goal when it comes to our social studies curriculum.”"
"Luis Miguel Sifuentes, 34, is a human resources officer from Chicago now living in Southlake and a former social studies and Texas history teacher. He strikes us as an earnest candidate who cares about making sure all kids get a fair shot at a quality education. We recommend Sifuentes in the Democratic primary for State Board of Education, District 11."
"Luis Miguel Sifuentes filed as a Democratic candidate. “DC” Caldwell filed as a candidate in both the Republican and Democratic primaries. The primary election will take place on March 1."
